1976 Firebird Interior Choices

Firebirds have always been offered in two trim levels, the standard and Custom.  The Custom interior was standard on Esprit and optional on Formula and Trans Am.  The custom interior offered more luxurious amenities like an improved seat design and specific door panels with separate pull straps.  There was also a holding strap on the passenger dashboard.

In 1976 the Firebird received all new custom and standard interiors.  The custom still had a horse collar style back rest but the lower seat and middle insert was redesigned.  The standard interior was cleaner, more streamlined looking than previous version and the standard seats would remain relatively unchanged until the end of the second generation..  For the first time a color, Lime, was available as an appointment color that was not available as a solid color in either standard or custom interiors.  Saddle was replaced with Buckskin in both trim levels and Burgundy was replaced with Firethorn in the custom level.  Only White could be mixed with other colors this year.  The Red interior with Black seats/appointments and vice versa was gone.
